In love with Batik? You’ll love the Batik Restaurant Bar then. Here great Southeast Asian food is served while guests are fascinatingly informed of the traditional art of Batik
As one of the newest additions to Seminyak, Batik presents a sensual selection of Asian dishes from its delightfully decorated colonial building. The décor, fittings and fixtures are head turning while the atmosphere here is one of colourful joy. The combination of good light, colour and sensational food puts Batik at the top of its game.
The open food bar focuses on Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Thai dishes. Gluten free and vegetarian friendly dishes are available and exciting. Throughout the restaurants three dining areas there are displays of batik, the tools and products required for this art and general explanations of the batik process. The restaurant produces batik fabric at its own factory in Solo where they process fabric for soft furnishings, and garments including the restaurants own uniforms. They work together with the local artists in order to get inspired, learn from them and preserve the heritage.
For an appetizer, a delicious Thai pandan chicken or Vietnamese shrimp pancake is recommended for those seeking light bites to accompany a relaxing afternoon. This pancake has an Asian twist. It is more savoury than sweet and is an ideal base for its filling. A full range of delicious cocktails and wines are available here to enjoy with a meal. My suggestion for dessert is the beautifully presented dadar gulung; one of Indonesian’s favourite sweets.
Good food, good wine, lovely décor and entertaining information make this restaurant a must-visit.
