Marriott International To Open a Luxury Collection Hotel in Tottori

Marriott International, Inc. announced the signing of an agreement with Japan’s dhp Urban development to open a Luxury Collection Hotel in Tottori. Located in the Chugoku region of Japan’s main island of Honshu, the 108 room and suite hotel is expected to open by end 2026.

“We are delighted to expand The Luxury Collection portfolio in Japan with the signing of this agreement with dhp Urban development to open a Luxury Collection Hotel in Tottori, our sixth property in Japan,” said Karl Hudson, Area Vice President Japan and Guam, Marriott International. “Each Luxury Collection property is a unique reflection of its location, providing unique experiences that transform and enrich our guests’ worlds, so we look forward to welcoming global explorers to discover this enchanting destination.”The new hotel anticipates to comprise two standalone, low-rise four story buildings overlooking the Tottori Sand Dunes with 108 guest rooms and suites. Plans for selected guest rooms include an open-air bathtub. Dining options are anticipated to include a casual all-day dining restaurant featuring a semi-open kitchen with live cooking stations and a specialty restaurant.

Honshu island is famous for its 100,000-year-old Tottori Sand Dunes spanning 16 kilometers along the coastline, with their tallest peaks over 45 meters high. The windswept dunes will be within walking distance from the new hotel, along with attractions such as Tottori Sakyu Kodomo-no-kuni, a recreational center with parks, gardens and children’s playgrounds, as well as the nine-hole Tottori Golf Club. Tottori city is located approximately 190 kilometers from Kobe and Osaka, 220 kilometers from Kyoto and 300 kilometers from Hiroshima. Most of Tottori is within the San’in Kaigan UNESCO Global Geopark, which covers a vast area of forest and agricultural land. The new hotel will be located 20 minutes’ drive from Tottori Station, which offers direct trains to Osaka (2.5 hours), with connections to Kyoto (3 hours) and Tokyo (5 hours) on the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen. Tottori Airport, 10 minutes’ drive from the new hotel, also offers regular flights to and from Tokyo Haneda Airport. 

This new Luxury Collection Hotel in Tottori will be part of Marriott International’s fast-expanding portfolio of exceptional luxury brands across Japan, which includes The Ritz-Carlton, The Ritz-Carlton Reserve, St. Regis, Bulgari, EDITION, JW Marriott and W Hotels.
