Redefining Select-Service Hospitality with Artful Collaborations at Zentis Osaka

Zentis Osaka, the flagship property of a new hotel brand under the Palace Hotel Group, is redefining select-service hospitality in Japan’s bustling port city. Since its debut in July 2020, Zentis Osaka has distinguished itself with a thoughtful blend of design, service, and cultural engagement, offering a fresh take on modern hospitality for the discerning traveler.

Located in the heart of Osaka, Zentis Osaka is a 16-story architectural gem featuring interiors crafted by the internationally renowned Tara Bernerd & Partners. The hotel’s design is a seamless fusion of Osaka’s vibrant urban landscape and its rich industrial heritage. A striking central staircase, carved from blue limestone, serves as both a functional centerpiece and a work of art, setting the tone for the rest of the hotel’s public spaces, which feature a harmonious mix of natural tones, timber beams, exposed brickwork, and modern touches.

Zentis Osaka’s 212 rooms and suites are designed with a focus on space utilization, inspired by the Japanese tradition of maximizing efficiency without compromising on comfort. The accommodations range from 25-square-meter Studio rooms to 57-square-meter Suites, all thoughtfully laid out to ensure optimal flow and functionality. Warm, natural shades dominate the color palette, complemented by local elements such as brushstroke-inspired artwork above each bed. The suites, located on the top floor, offer distinct living and sleeping areas, and some can be combined with adjoining rooms to create larger spaces for families or groups.

The hotel’s culinary offerings are equally impressive. UPSTAIRZ, Zentis Osaka’s all-day dining venue, occupies much of the second floor and has quickly become a gastronomic destination in a city already famed for its food culture. The 116-seat restaurant serves a sophisticated fusion of Japanese and French cuisine, crafted from seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Guests can enjoy their meals in a variety of settings, from the main dining room with its open kitchen to the lounge, outdoor terrace, or bar, which offers a selection of seasonal cocktails and fine Japanese whiskies.

In line with its design-forward ethos, Zentis Osaka recently launched its inaugural ‘Art-in-Residence’ program. This initiative, titled ‘Zentis Art-in-Residence: itu’s Crossover,’ features a collaboration with Paris-based Japanese artist itu’. The exhibition showcases over a dozen canvases throughout the hotel and includes a bold reimagining of one of the Corner Studios into ‘itu’s Art Studio.’ In this unique space, the artist’s playful creativity extends to the room’s furnishings, curtains, bedding, and glassware, offering guests an immersive experience that blurs the lines between art and everyday life. Those who stay in ‘itu’s Art Studio’ can take home a pair of custom-painted slippers as a keepsake, each one a unique piece of art.

Zentis Osaka’s commitment to cultural engagement extends beyond the visual arts. The hotel is situated in a prime location where the scenic riverside area of Dojimahama meets the high-end business district of Kita-shinchi. Just a short walk from the Osaka Science Museum and the National Museum of Art, Zentis Osaka offers guests easy access to some of the city’s premier attractions.

As Osaka prepares to welcome visitors from around the world for Expo 2025, Zentis Osaka continues to set the standard for select-service hospitality in the city. With its unique blend of thoughtful design, exceptional service, and cultural immersion, Zentis Osaka offers an enriching experience that appeals to both local and international travelers.
