Born out of Chef Alejandro Perez Montano’s passion for seafood, or in his words, the ‘fruit of the sea’, La Cevicheria is a chic establishment on the second floor of La Pachamama in Jalan Penestanan, Ubud. The restaurant promises its guests three essential ingredients; fresh ceviche, lots of white wine and great music.
Vertical gardens define the space of La Cevicheria’s open dining area, blending perfectly with the surrounding natural greenery for which Ubud’s is renowned. La Cevicheria certainly delivers what it promises; a fine food, fine beverages, a venue with heart and soul and a background of vibrant music.
The menu at La Cevicheria is compact yet complex. The boldness of putting together a total of only six dishes is a testament to the mantra of ‘quality over quantity.’ Chef Alejandro uses all his expertise of authentic Latin-American techniques marinating fresh fish in citrus juices and creating some of the most enticing ceviches on the island. Don’t miss their Ceviche Mixto or Carribean Ceviche which comes with a portion of sweet cassava chips to enhance the flavours even further. The tacos on the menu are also highly recommended with either fried prawn or fish fillings, and vegetarians can opt for the corianderbased wrap that comes in a fresh green palette. Roll up, eat away, and enjoy the tangible goodness of sweet & sour meets seafood – Mexican style.
La Cevicheria’s cocktail division is also not to be missed. Try the Clementina or perhaps the Pink Caipiroska, a perfect mixture of vodka, lemonade, fruit and Merlot creating a soothing sweet.
